Diese Fläche repräsentiert etwa 20% des noch verbliebenen Tieflandregenwaldes der Insel Sumatra, ist Refugium für Tiger und Elefanten und bietet zahllosen anderen Tier-, Pflanzenarten und Mikroorganismen einen Lebensraum.
