Der Hutan Harapan (Wald der Hoffnung) liegt in den Provinzen Jambi und Süd-Sumatra und erstreckt sich auf knapp 100.000 Hektar. Diese Fläche repräsentiert etwa 20% des noch verbliebenen Tieflandregenwaldes der Insel Sumatra, ist Refugium für Tiger und Elefanten und bietet zahllosen anderen Tier-, Pflanzenarten und Mikroorganismen einen Lebensraum.
